You have ten workstations, a server or Microsoft 365, and nobody looking after it full-time. Until now, whenever something went wrong, you called “the IT guy”, and at the end of the month a bill arrived that nobody could have predicted. People searching for IT support costs in Luxembourg usually want to know one thing: what will I pay each month, and what will I get for it? This article gives an honest overview.
Two pricing models: hourly billing or a fixed fee per workstation
Usage-based billing (hours or tickets). You pay when something breaks. That seems inexpensive as long as nothing happens. The problem: the provider earns money from incidents, not from preventing them. And your costs are unpredictable. A French guide to infogérance therefore explicitly describes per-ticket billing as “unpredictable” and generally without binding response times.
Fixed fee per workstation or user (infogérance au forfait). You pay a fixed amount per workstation per month. In return, the provider continuously handles updates, antivirus protection, monitoring and support. The provider has an incentive to keep breakdowns to a minimum, because every incident costs them time.
There are also hybrid models: a basic fixed fee plus separately billed interventions. Here, it is worth looking closely at what the fixed fee includes and what it does not.
What costs to expect: the market range
Many IT providers in Luxembourg do not publish prices. You only receive a quote after a discussion. To get an idea of the scale nonetheless, it helps to look at neighbouring countries:
- A French guide (as of September 2026) gives figures of €20 to €80 excluding VAT per workstation per month for microbusinesses with 1–20 workstations, and €30 to €120 excluding VAT for SMEs with 20–250 workstations, for comprehensive managed IT.
This gives a rough range of around €20 to €120 excluding VAT per workstation per month. Important: these figures come from guides in neighbouring countries, not a Luxembourg market study. The range is wide because the same term covers very different services. At the lower end, it often means only remote maintenance during office hours. At the upper end, security, a firewall, round-the-clock monitoring and defined response times are included.
What drives the price
Whether you fall towards the lower or upper end depends on a few questions:
- How many workstations, users and sites? Two offices require more work than one.
- How complex is your IT? A Microsoft 365-only setup is simpler than an in-house server with specialist business software, inventory management and external access.
- How quickly does someone need to respond? Within eight hours during office hours is different from within one hour, even at night.
- How much security is included? Firewall management, attack monitoring (XDR/SOC), backup with restore testing.
- What obligations do you have? Businesses covered by NIS2 or processing sensitive data need more documentation and evidence.
- On-site visits. Some providers charge extra for travel. In Luxembourg, with commuter traffic on the main routes, that is no minor detail.
Hidden costs: what quotes often leave out
A low price per workstation means little if half the services cost extra. Ask specifically about:
- Setup fee (onboarding). What does the initial takeover of your IT cost?
- Services outside the fixed fee. What is expressly excluded? Setting up new computers? On-site visits? Help with specialist business software?
- Surcharges. Evenings, weekends, emergencies.
- Licences. Microsoft 365, backup software, antivirus protection — are they included or charged separately?
- Price adjustments. Under what conditions can the provider raise the price?
- Exit arrangements. How long is the contract term, and what is the notice period? When switching providers, do you receive your documentation and all access credentials at no extra cost?
Calculate costs not just for one month, but for two to three years: setup, ongoing fixed fees, licences and typical additional services. Only then can you compare two quotes.
How to recognise a fair quote
- It is clear what is included and what is not. In writing, not just in conversation.
- Response times are stated in the contract. With hours and days of the week.
- Additional work is agreed in advance. No surprises on the invoice.
- A report is provided. You can see what has been done: updates, alerts, tickets.
- The provider examines your IT before quoting a price. A price given “without looking” is either set too high or followed by additional charges later.

Frequently asked questions
How much does managed IT cost per workstation in Luxembourg? There are no publicly available fixed market prices for Luxembourg. French guides quote around €20 to €120 excluding VAT per workstation per month, depending on business size and scope of services. A reliable quote can only be provided once someone has examined your IT.
Is a fixed fee more expensive than hourly billing? Not necessarily. In quiet months, you pay less with hourly billing; a major incident can quickly cost significantly more. A fixed fee makes costs predictable and includes preventive measures such as updates and monitoring that prevent outages.
Why does Local-IT-Partner Luxembourg not publish prices on its website? Because the price depends on the condition of your IT. After the free IT check, both sides know what needs to be done, and you receive a fixed price per workstation.
Are Microsoft 365 licences included in the fixed fee? Most providers treat licences as a separate item. Ask explicitly about this with every quote so that you have comparable figures.
How long am I tied to the contract? At Local-IT-Partner Luxembourg, the contract term is 12 months with a 3-month notice period, and billing is monthly.
